Calling all parents, guardians, carers and teachers - We need your help!

Dear Resident,

As the school summer holidays approach, we typically experience a rise in demand for our services, with an increase in calls to both 999 and 101.

While many of these calls are from people in genuine need, we also see a spike in hoax calls and inappropriate use of our phone lines during this time. This misuse can have serious consequences, delaying help for those in real emergencies.

That’s why we’re asking for your support in raising awareness among children and young people ahead of the summer break.

We’ve attached a range of educational resources that we hope you can share with students and parents—either before the holidays begin or during the break itself:

  • Primary School Poster – Suitable for display in classrooms.
  • Secondary School Factsheet – A handout for students to keep.
  • Secondary School Scenario Sheet – Can be used in class or independently, along with an answer sheet for discussion.

Your help in sharing these materials will make a real difference in keeping our lines available for those who need them most.

If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reply to this email.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kind regards,
